Eerie comparison

I must be paranoid or something, but when I heard the beginning to this song, The Lonely, by Christina Perri I instantly thought of my song, Why Aren't You Gone. Almost the exact same lyrics in the first phrase, and the tune and arrangement of that same phrase are the same.

Also, throughout her song, I also noticed similar phrases that I used in my song, Back Before the Day. Am I just paranoid? It's a little haunting, since she wrote her song after my songs were posted on youtube...not to give myself that much credit, it's just a strange coincidence.

Listen to her song, then come back and listen to the first line of my song. Weird. I do love her song though. And Jar of Hearts is good too, although the video is a little strange.

In the works

It's been a while, hasn't it?

I haven't done much recording since my last two releases, Welcome to My Soul and Why Aren't You Gone, back in July 2010. However, the song writing hasn't stopped.

I have a few songs that I've written, but still need to be recorded, including:
The Other Side of Love
I Thought I Loved You Then
Losing Myself

If you (or someone you know) are looking for an opportunity to share your vocal talent with the world, please contact me.I'm always looking for great vocalists. *Just leave a comment with info on how I can reach you.

Two new recordings...finally!

I'm happy to bring you the newest two recorded songs.

Welcome to My Soul and Why Aren't You Gone

A little about the newest releases:

Welcome to My Soul is the name of my "Album". If it were a real record. I can say it's an album because it's mine, can't I? Let's pretend it is.

I wrote this song in January 2010. It was based on two things. First, I wanted to write something upbeat with an interesting beat. Secondly, (this is why it became the title to my album), this was the year I had decided to share my music with the world. It was very personal and intimidating. It was like revealing my soul, leaving me to feel quite vulnerable. But it was also something I needed to share so I lived with no regrets.

Why Aren't You Gone was also written in January 2010, the morning after dreaming about someone from my past that I didn't want to remember.

Special thanks to Amy Hansen for her amazing vocals!

You Are Mine - a new release!

I'm excited to post the newest recording - "You Are Mine".

You can also listen on myspace:

Another big thank you to Amy Hansen for her beautiful voice and soothing harmonies. I love her arrangements on the vocals. Without her even knowing, her harmony arrangement was as good as what I heard in my head and then some.

I wanted to write a song that was cheerful and expressed the happy side of my life. I have a habit of being drawn to the darker, deeper times of life when looking for musical inspiration, so here's to the happy times!

So, although the song is simple, it expresses the story-book love I have for my sweetheart...as well as a small inside joke we share.

I'll let you in on it too. While my husband and I were at church together one Sunday, our teacher kept saying, "She's mine. She belongs to me", when referring to his wife. We thought the way he kept declaring his ownership of her quite commical and still joke about it to this day. Now I can laughingly say to him, "You are mine..." :)
